FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Crerand Attends Hunters Sharing the Harvest State Board

Pictured at the Hunters Sharing the Harvest statewide meeting from left are HSH Executive Director John Plowman, Pike County HSH Coordinator John Crerand, and HSH State Coordinator Ken Brandt.

HUNTINGDON - Hunters Sharing the Harvest (HSH) Pike County Coordinator John Crerand attended the June 19 HSH statewide board meeting held in Huntingdon for the non-profit organization to review fundraising strategies among the agenda items.

HSH Board of Directors invited all 60 county coordinators to the meeting where plans were made to raise the necessary funds needed to provide ground venison to a network of food banks and pantries as well as soup kitchens across the state.

The HSH Board set goals and established the programs to seek funding and improve the administrative functions of the organization.

Crerand introduced a Pike County initiative, which provided a Certificate of Appreciation to the deer processors enrolled in the program as well as local news agencies that have provided valuable news coverage for the HSH food donation program.

This program was adopted on a statewide basis at the meeting and will be implemented statewide in the near future.

Crerand stated in an interview with the Pike County Dispatch, "I can't tell you how good it makes me feel when I arrive at a food pantry and see the smiling faces of those waiting in line to receive the ground venison I am delivering that morning."

"Often, I am asked if I will be back next week, and will we have more venison? When I can answer YES, I am always greeted with another smile. That makes my day!"

"Hunters Sharing the Harvest is truly a wonderful program for all hunters and the public to contribute to," said Crerand.

"Hunters provide the venison, and for now, the first $15 toward processing costs."

"The network of processors provides the services needed to prepare the venison, and you, our sponsors, organizations and the public provide the many dollars that fund this valuable service based program."

Crerand asks that anyone interested in supporting HSH to please visit the websites carrying the HSH information at www.QDMAPikeCountyPa.com and www.Sharedeer.org.

Both websites have a printable coupon that you can print and use to send a donation to all those many families that need your help and support.

"Please take the time and send a Buck or Bucks for the Pot," said Crerand.
