News Release: For Immediate ReleaseQDMA Short Course Dr. Gary Alt among Speakers in Pike County
MILFORD – The Pike County Branch of Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) based in Milford will sponsor a Short Course on March 12 with speakers focusing on managing white-tailed deer in residential communities, culling, habitat management, developing food plots, and the future of deer in Pennsylvania. Speakers are Dr. Gary Alt, wildlife biologist retired from the PA Game Commission; Bryon Shissler, independent consultant and wildlife biologist; Neil Dougherty of North Country Whitetails; and Kip Adams, wildlife biologist and northeast regional director of QDMA. Representatives from the Lake Naomi Club in Pocono Pines will discuss the deer herd culling operation they conducted in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The Club is a large-scale residential development located in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. This event will be held Saturday, March 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dingman Township firehouse located at 680 Log Tavern Rd., Milford, near the intersection of Log Tavern Rd. and Route 739. Admission to the Short Course is $15 per person and includes lunch. Seats are limited to the first 225 responses and pre-registration is advised to help us plan lunches for all that attend. A sportsmen silent auction, raffles, and cash prizes will take place throughout the event.
