FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE QDMA Sportsmen's Event
MILFORD – There is still time to sign up for the Pike County Branch of Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) Banquet and Sportsmen's Auction & Raffle. This event will be held Friday, Sept. 24, at Ehrhardt's Waterfront Resort on Lake Wallenpaupack, Route 507, Hawley. Registration begins at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. followed by live and silent auctions and various sportsmen's and ladies raffles. Hunters, landowners and anyone interested in white-tailed deer biology, ecology and management are invited to attend this QDMA fundraising event. Monies raised will be used by the National, State, and local Branch to help meet our mission statement goals to promote sustainable high quality white-tailed deer populations, wildlife habitats, and ethical hunting experiences through education, research, and management in partnership with hunters, landowners, natural resource professionals, and the general public. So far this year, the Pike County Branch held two educational programs. One was a Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) landowner workshop held in May, and the other a Forest & Wildlife Field Tour for Landowners in July. Visit the QDMA table at the banquet to learn about our non-profit organization that is the leading advocate of the QDM philosophy, made up of hunters, landowners and concerned area resident volunteers, and partnered with numerous federal and state wildlife organizations. Take time to stop at the Hunters Sharing the Harvest (HSH) table for information about how this valuable program provides hunters an opportunity to donate a second or third deer to benefit area food banks. HSH is another resource to assist in the management of woodlands and forests to assure this renewable resource is efficiently managed to provide recreational opportunities for hunters as well as non-hunters. The biggest win on banquet night in the sportsmen's event will be a quality whitetail five-day guided rifle or bow hunt in Nebraska in 2005 that includes lodging and meals. Other auction and raffle items include deer prints, seed for food plots, trail camera, Mathews compound bow, variety of sporting arms, bronze sculpture, wooden accessory chests, Labrador Retriever afghan and pillow set, wind chimes, numerous gift certificates at area businesses and restaurants, wine basket for two, and much more. Early bird raffle tickets of $300 in value are available for $100 if purchased up to one week prior to the banquet, or, $100 buys $100 worth of raffle tickets on banquet night. Banquet tickets are $45 for one adult for a full course dinner and one-year QDMA membership, and $65 for two adults for two dinners and one QDMA membership. Pre-register by sending your name, address, phone number, email address and whether your registration is a new QDMA member or renewal with your check made payable to "Pike County QDMA" to P.O.
