Food and Cover Plantings
QDMA Northeast Regional Director Ken Allein of Buffalo, NY, will be one of several speakers to talk about habitat improvement projects on June 22.
Food and Cover Plantings
MILFORD – The NEPA Branch of QDMA (Quality Deer Management Association) announced a public meeting scheduled for June 22 at 7:30 p.m. for informal discussion on what food and cover plantings work and benefit wildlife. This special presentation will be held in the meeting room of the Pike County Conservation District building on Route 402 just north of I-84. QDMA Northeast Regional Director Ken Allein of Buffalo, NY, will give a presentation on warm season grasses, an under utilized method to establish thick cover and bedding areas on your property. Local QDMA members will give a PowerPoint presentation to share their experiences with developing food plots and plantings in our area. Robin Wildermuth, NEPA QDMA acting president, said Branch members would lead us through a “how to” of establishing food plots on old fields and our rugged forested lands. Slides will show the process, equipment, and techniques that work and probably some ideas on what does not work. You will see a variety of equipment and techniques, and we look forward to good discussion where we all can share our experiences. Bring your questions and ideas to share with the group. Deer season is still months away, said Wildermuth, but there are plenty of habitat improvement projects waiting to be accomplished on our hunting lands. Please join us for an informal presentation of food and cover plantings about what works and what doesn’t. QDMA is a non-profit organization and advocate of sustainable habitat and healthy wildlife.
